Germany<\/a> <\/strong>and Poland<\/a><\/strong> must work together to drive Europe\u2019s economic revival, the finance ministers of both countries said during talks in Warsaw, as concerns grow over competitiveness and the pace of decision-making within the European Union.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a joint press conference on Monday, Polish Finance Minister Andrzej Doma\u0144ski<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/a> said Europe faces mounting pressure to strengthen its economic position globally.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to make Europe more competitive,\u201d Doma\u0144ski said, stressing the urgency of coordinated action among EU member states.<\/p>\n

Germany\u2019s Vice Chancellor and Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/a>, who was visiting Poland for the first time since taking office, said the changing nature of transatlantic relations made European unity even more critical.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe transatlantic relationship as we have known it is clearly evolving,\u201d Klingbeil said. \u201cPrecisely in this phase, we believe Europe must be strengthened and moved forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Push for Faster and More Effective EU Action<\/h4>\n

Klingbeil said the European Union needs to adapt to growing global challenges by improving how it operates, calling for institutions that are more agile and capable of handling complex issues.<\/p>\n

Europe, he added, must become \u201cfaster, smarter and better equipped to deal with complexity\u201d if it is to remain competitive.<\/p>\n

The comments come as frustration builds among EU governments over stalled initiatives, many of which have been slowed by the bloc\u2019s intricate decision-making procedures.<\/p>\n

Broader European Momentum<\/h4>\n

Earlier this week, ministers from six of Europe\u2019s largest economies \u2014 including Germany and Poland \u2014 agreed to take on a leading role in advancing key projects aimed at boosting growth and cooperation across the bloc.<\/p>\n

Following a recent ministerial video conference, Klingbeil said the group had committed to intensifying collaboration and pushing EU institutions to act more decisively.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have set ourselves the goal of deepening European cooperation, increasing speed, and demanding the same from the European Commission,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u2018A Race for Competitiveness\u2019<\/h4>\n

Doma\u0144ski echoed those remarks, warning that Europe risks falling behind if reforms are delayed.<\/p>\n

\u201cEurope is in a race,\u201d he said. \u201cA race for competitiveness and real economic strength \u2014 and to succeed, we need to accelerate.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both ministers signalled that closer coordination between Berlin and Warsaw could play a central role in shaping Europe\u2019s economic direction at a time of shifting global alliances and intensifying competition.<\/p>\n
