Analysts warn the move could weaken the party\u2019s identity, divide its supporters, and ultimately strengthen more established political rivals.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"823\" data-end=\"1072\">More than <strong data-start=\"833\" data-end=\"896\">30 high-ranking members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/al-ahwaz.com\/\">National Citizen Party<\/a> (NCP)<\/strong> publicly rejected the alliance on Sunday, with some stepping down from their roles as a form of protest. Bangladesh is set to hold national elections on <strong data-start=\"1050\" data-end=\"1071\">February 12, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h4 data-start=\"1074\" data-end=\"1106\">Party Identity Under Pressure<\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"1108\" data-end=\"1379\">The NCP has positioned itself as a political alternative led by <strong data-start=\"1172\" data-end=\"1198\">Generation Z activists<\/strong>, with goals centered on political reform, fairness, and a break from traditional party dominance. However, critics say the latest alliance has created uncertainty inside the party.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1381\" data-end=\"1505\">Academic <strong data-start=\"1390\" data-end=\"1410\">H.M. Nazmul Alam<\/strong> noted that the party\u2019s core message \u2014 built on youth activism \u2014 is now facing a critical test.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1507\" data-end=\"1665\">\n<p data-start=\"1509\" data-end=\"1665\">\u201cMovements rooted in young voices don\u2019t fail just because of elections,\u201d Alam said. \u201cThey break when they lose direction, transparency, and shared purpose.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h4 data-start=\"1667\" data-end=\"1702\">A Competitive Election Landscape<\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"1704\" data-end=\"2008\">Recent polling projections suggested that <strong data-start=\"1746\" data-end=\"1784\">Jamaat-e-Islami could place second<\/strong> in the upcoming vote, behind the <strong data-start=\"1818\" data-end=\"1856\">Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)<\/strong> led by former Prime Minister <strong data-start=\"1886\" data-end=\"1901\">Khaleda Zia<\/strong>. The NCP has trailed behind both major parties, sitting in third place before the agreement was announced.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2010\" data-end=\"2273\">Jamaat-e-Islami had previously been barred from elections for years due to constitutional conflicts with Bangladesh\u2019s secular political framework. Members are free to decide their own path.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"2668\" data-end=\"2855\">Nahid also admitted that the party remains organizationally young, with limited funding and still-forming policy positions \u2014 including on issues related to women and minority communities.<\/p>\n<h4 data-start=\"2857\" data-end=\"2898\">Senior Resignations Add to Uncertainty<\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"2900\" data-end=\"3168\">One of the most notable resignations came from <strong data-start=\"2947\" data-end=\"2966\">Dr. Tasnim Jara<\/strong>, a former NCP senior leader who left her medical career in the United Kingdom to join the political movement. She has now begun collecting voter support to qualify as an independent election candidate.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"3170\" data-end=\"3306\">\n<p data-start=\"3172\" data-end=\"3306\">\u201cI committed to building a new political culture here,\u201d Jara wrote in a public Facebook post. \u201cI will continue honoring that promise.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h4 data-start=\"3308\" data-end=\"3350\">Analysts Predict a Risky Political Turn<\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"3352\" data-end=\"3493\">Political professor <strong data-start=\"3372\" data-end=\"3387\">Asif Shahan<\/strong> from the University of Dhaka expressed concern that the alliance may dilute the NCP\u2019s ideological stance.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"3495\" data-end=\"3703\">\n<p data-start=\"3497\" data-end=\"3703\">\u201cThis partnership benefits Jamaat far more than NCP,\u201d Shahan said. \u201cIt provides them broader appeal, while NCP loses its middle-ground voice.
