The deployment unfolded while Syrian and Israeli officials were engaged in the final day of negotiations in Paris<\/strong>, mediated and coordinated by the United States, according to Syria\u2019s state news agency SANA<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The entry of Israeli military units has drawn renewed attention to Syria\u2019s territorial sovereignty<\/strong>, already strained by repeated military actions since the fall of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad<\/strong> in early 2025.<\/p>\n

Syria has stated that the talks underscore its focus on restoring national rights<\/strong>, not on diplomatic normalization with Israel. The country does not recognize Israel as a state<\/strong>, and has publicly distanced itself from joining the Abraham-linked normalization framework<\/strong> or the Abraham Accords<\/strong>, which it has rejected.<\/p>\n

Escalating Incursions Since Assad\u2019s Fall<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Since al-Assad\u2019s exit from power, Israel has expanded its military footprint beyond the Golan Heights<\/strong> into parts of southern Syria, including Quneitra, conducting raids that Syrians describe as territorial overreach<\/strong>.
