Further signs of de-escalation emerged after a senior administration official confirmed that Gregory Bovino<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, a senior Border Patrol figure closely associated with the crackdown, would leave Minnesota along with some of the agents deployed under the operation.<\/p>\n

Walz\u2019s office described the discussion as productive, saying Trump agreed to consider reducing the federal presence and to instruct Department of Homeland Security<\/span><\/span><\/strong> to ensure Minnesota could proceed with its own investigation into Pretti\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

Frey also said progress had been made, noting that Trump acknowledged the current situation was unsustainable and that some federal agents would begin leaving the Twin Cities as early as Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The controversy has begun to reshape local politics. Chris Madel, a prominent Republican candidate for Minnesota governor, withdrew from the race on Monday, saying the deportation drive had gone too far and made a Republican victory impossible.<\/p>\n
