Palestinian officials estimate that around 100,000 people left Gaza during the early months of the war, many with assistance from aid organisations, while others reportedly paid intermediaries in Egypt to secure passage.<\/p>\n<h4 data-start=\"1927\" data-end=\"1969\"><strong data-start=\"1931\" data-end=\"1969\">Medical Access Severely Restricted<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"1971\" data-end=\"2169\">Following Israel\u2019s takeover of Rafah and the closure of the Philadelphi corridor along the Gaza\u2013Egypt border, a critical route for wounded and sick Palestinians seeking treatment abroad was cut off.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2171\" data-end=\"2427\">According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/al-ahwaz.com\/\"><strong data-start=\"2188\" data-end=\"2229\"><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">United Nations<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/a>, only a few thousand Palestinians have been permitted to leave Gaza for medical care via Israel over the past year, while many thousands more remain in urgent need of treatment outside the enclave.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2429\" data-end=\"2565\">Gaza\u2019s population of roughly two million people now largely survives in makeshift shelters or damaged homes amid widespread destruction.<\/p>\n<h4 data-start=\"2567\" data-end=\"2607\"><strong data-start=\"2571\" data-end=\"2607\">Foreign Journalists Still Barred<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"2609\" data-end=\"2837\">Despite the reopening of Rafah, Israel continues to prohibit foreign journalists from entering Gaza. The FPA disputes this, saying the public is being denied independent reporting and noting that aid workers and UN staff have been allowed entry since the war started.<\/p>\n<h4 data-start=\"3309\" data-end=\"3342\"><strong data-start=\"3313\" data-end=\"3342\">Ceasefire Remains Fragile<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"3344\" data-end=\"3560\">Trump\u2019s Gaza plan, now entering a second phase, envisions the territory eventually being administered by Palestinian technocrats, Hamas disarming, Israeli forces withdrawing, and large-scale reconstruction beginning.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3562\" data-end=\"3721\">Israeli officials have expressed scepticism that Hamas would relinquish its weapons, and some say preparations are under way for a possible return to fighting.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3723\" data-end=\"3926\">Since the October ceasefire took effect, Israeli attacks in Gaza have killed more than 500 Palestinians, according to local health officials, while Palestinian fighters have killed four Israeli soldiers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3928\" data-end=\"4183\">On Saturday, Israel carried out some of its heaviest air strikes since the truce began, killing at least 30 people.
